Today I went the Fantagraphics bookstore for the first time (you should too!) and bought three excellent things for $33. Thanks, half-price closet. Hark! A Vagrant by Kate Beaton was not discounted (duh) but it stared at me accusingly for the whole hour and a half I spent in the store until I caved in and coughed up the money. And guess what, it’s really worth it I swear no lies. I’ve always enjoyed Beaton’s stuff, and seeing it all together is kind of like being slowly tickled to death by the licks of pug-puppies. Which is to say, fantastic. It’s a perfect mix of literature, history, pop culture, and general silliness. Funny faces 4ever.
p.s. I also bought Hey Buddy! Vol. 1 by Peter Bagge and L’ile Noir by Herge, but those are tales for a time when I don’t need to be packing my suitcase.
